After 29000 km on the road, I decided to spend 3 weeks in Buenos Aires, where my trip will end. My return home was initially planned for April 1st, but with my fast progress, the high prices in Argentina and a bit of homesickness that began being more and more present, I decided to fly back one month earlier.
Ushuaia, located at the south end of the American continent, was the ultimate objective of my trip. The last 2000 kilometres were not always easy, nice or even interesting, but I finally reached my goal on February 4, 2016!
The Carretera Austral was a real challenge, but the famous Road 40, leading the Terra del Fuego in Argentina, might just well be even more difficult as it’s very isolated, but also, because some of the road portions are hit by strong winds and in very bad condition.
After my rear suspension repair, several options were presenting themselves to me. I had the possibility of returning north to visit the places I had missed, having to go as directly as possible to Santiago (Cusco, Bolivia, northern Argentina), but my heart was just not there and going back several thousand of kilometres was not something I was enthusiastically considering.
